TEACHING

Philosophy

I believe that my role as an educator is to guide, coach, and motivate my students. My teaching is firmly based on the principle of applied learning. Students in my classes have the opportunity to leave with a portfolio of useable work and an arsenal of skills that result in more engaged, professional, and responsible students.

My goal is to enhance a student’s learning experience through a variety of methods that are different than the traditional lecture setting. Those methods include relevant laboratory experiences, sampling exemplary examples of industry outputs, practical applications, and engaging in dialogue with professionals to gain further understanding of what it takes to succeed in the given field of study.

The standards I set for my students are high but my goal is to get them to the level where they can be proud of what they've done and how they've improved. I consistently remind my students that we are working on improvement in all the courses I teach and not perfection. Seeing the improvement from Week 1 to Week 15 is part of the joy of teaching and sharing knowledge with students.

The table below lists the courses that I have taught in previous semesters and what I am teaching this semester.
